Current Rules:
1. Eligibility
All Players must be residents of the
State College area for the length of the game. The residency
qualification does not imply permanent residents in the legal sense.
This simply means that your address must be State College, University
Park, or the local area. This rule is in place so that players can not
be living out of the area, and only visit on the weekends. The referee
will have final decision on the term local area.
2. Format
The format is the basic Circle of
Death. Each player has one person to hunt down and are also hunted by
one person. No one else knows what name they have (except the referee)
unless an assassin tries to tag their target and fail. Player A is after
Player B, who is after Player C, and so on until finally Player Z is
after Player A. Once a target is tagged, the assassin gets their target,
until you have two people who are after each other.
Since it is considered an assassination, tags should be carried out
without any witnesses. However, considering the population of State
College, this may not be feasible. If an assassination is witnessed by
another player, the witness should contact the referee. In which case,
the sloppy assassin may find himself hunted by two people.
A legal tag is one made with an approved weapon (see below). A legal tag
is also one not made in the target's safe-zone.
The winner is the person with the most kills at the game's conclusion.
The winner is not necessarily the last person left. If played correctly,
the player with the most kills is also the last player left.
3. Safe-Zone
The safe-zone is a designated area,
no larger than a building, where you cannot be legally tagged. The
safe-zone is set at the beginning of the game and cannot be changed
during the game. This rule is in place so that you are not targeted at
an embarrassing location, such as your place of work.
4. Time Frame
-
Application Deadline: 1/21/2001
11:59 PM
-
Game Begins: 1/26/2001 11:59 PM
-
Game Tentatively Ends: 4/20/2001
11:59 PM
-
Party: 4/21/2001
5. Weapons
Currently, the only weapons allowed
for The Assassination Game are NERF style weapons. It is important that
everyone uses weapons with foam projectiles. The honor system applies,
and the target has the responsibility of making his assassin know he's
been shot.
6. ID Card
Every TAG player must carry their
issued ID card. The ID card issued to the assassin has important
information listed on it. Not only does it have your picture, address,
and safe zone, but it also has a confirmation number. The ID card will
also list your target. Once you are tagged, you must give your ID card
to your assassin. Your assassin must e-mail the referee the confirmation
number to get credit for the kill. The assassin may then continue on
with the next target.
7. Hired Guns
Hired guns will be allowed. A hired
gun is a person assigned by an assassin to complete the task of whacking
their target. Hired guns can be friends, spouses, family members, or
whoever else who were not fortunate enough to be chosen as an assassin.
Any tags made by a hired gun are credited to the person who hired them.
8. Hostages
No hostages, period. In past games,
hostages were allowed. A hostage is taken by holding onto their ID card,
instead of tagging them. Hostages, until tagged, are still in the game.
If their ID card is given back to them, they are considered freed.
9. Suspension
This goes without saying, but in this
day and age, someone has to say it. The referee maintains the right
remove any player from the game at any time.
Some seasons for suspension:
1. Roughness - The Golden Rule applies to The Assassination Game. Do
unto others as you would want them to do unto you. This includes, but
not limited to, using non-approved weapons, intentional face shots, and
other rough tactics. This is a game, please don't ruin it for other
people.
2. Cheating - If you think you might be cheating, then chances are, it
is cheating. Feel fee to run any questions by the referee ahead of time.
The referee will be much more willing to grant permission than
forgiveness.
10. Glossary
kill - to shoot a target with NERF
style weapon

whack - (see kill)
